【摘要】:1.1Thisspecificationcoverstherequirementsforcontinuousfiberandstaplefiberglassstrands,includingsingle,pliedandmultiplewound.Italsocoverstexturedglassfiberyarns.1.2Glassfibersareproducedhavingvariouscompositions.Generalapplicationsareidentifiedbymeansofaletterdesignation.Theletterdesignationrepresentsafamilyofglassesthathaveprovidedacceptableperformancetotheend-userintheintendedapplication.Forexample,thecompositionlimitsstatedforE-GlassinthisspecificationrepresentingtheglassfiberfamilyforgeneralandmostelectricalapplicationsisdesignatedbytheletterE.Militaryspecifications,suchas,MIL-R-60346,recognizethecompositionlimitsdescribedinthisspecificationasmeetingtherespectiverequirementsforE-Glassstrandsusedinreinforcedplasticstructureapplications.Thisspecificationisintendedtoassistultimateusersbydesignatingthegeneralnomenclatureforthestrandproductsthataregenerallymanufacturedintheglassfiberindustry.1.3Glassfiberstrandshaveavarietyofgeneralusesunderspecificconditions,suchashighphysicalorchemicalstress,highmoisture,hightemperature,orelectricalenvironments.Propertyrequirementsunderspecificconditionsareagreeduponbetweenthepurchaserandthesupplier.Electricalpropertyrequirementsvarywithspecificend-useapplications.Forprintedcircuitboardapplications,otherrequirementsmaybeneededsuchastheuseofInstituteforInterconnectingandPackagingElectronicCircuits(IPC)SpecificationEG-4412forfinishedfabricwovenfromE-Glassforprintedcircuitboards,orSpecificationMIL-P-13949forprintedwiringboardsapplicabletoglassfabricbase.1.4ThisspecificationshowsthevaluesinbothSIunitsandinch-poundunits."SI"unitsisthetechnicallycorrectnameforthesystemofmetricunitsknownastheInternationalSystemofUnits."Inch-poundunits"isthetechnicallycorrectnameforthecustomaryunitsusedintheUnitedStates.Thevaluesstatedineitheracceptablemetricunitsorinotherunitsshallberegardedseparatelyasstandard.Thevaluesexpressedineachsystemmaynotbeexactequivalents;therefore,eachsystemmustbeusedindependentlyoftheother,withoutcombininginanyway.1.5ThisspecificationisoneofaseriestoprovideasubstituteforMilitarySpecifications:MIL-Y-1140Yarn,Cord,Sleeving,ClothandTape-Glass;andMIL-C-9084Cloth,GlassFinishedforResinLaminates.1.6AdditionalASTMspecificationsinthisserieshavebeendraftedandappearincurrenteditionsoftheAnnualBookofASTMStandards.Theseincludefinishedglassfabrics,unfinishedglassfabrics,glasstapes,glasssleevings,glasscords,glasssewingthreads,andfinishedlaminatesmadefromfinishedglassfabrics.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
